The Indiana University School of Medicine and the Richard L. Roudebush VAMC is offering a one-year accredited fellowship in geriatric psychiatry. The fellowship offers training at the VAMC in consultation and treatment in a variety of multi-disciplinary services and in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Specialized training is available in the related areas of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, neuroimaging and aging. Rotations will include Consultation Liaison, Geriatric Medicine Clinic, Outpatient Dementia Clinic and Nursing Homes. The fellow will be expected to fill leadership roles clinically and will be involved in geriatric administrative functions. The fellow may also participate in clinical home assessments with minority populations and will have an opportunity to gain additional experience in clinical research. Didactic lectures on both routine and complicated geriatric management, gerontology, psycho-geriatric research, and psychotherapy are part of the required curriculum. No on-site night call is required.

The program is fully accredited by the ACGME. One opening for the 2009-10 academic year is available. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, have an M.D. or comparable degree, and have completed a four-year general psychiatry residency in an ACGME-accredited program. We sponsor J-1 Visas. Applications are encouraged from professionals of all ethnic backgrounds.
